Why Eggs are one of my staple foods
“When you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”
I’ve always liked this quote. It’s a great reminder that we can’t expect results if we don’t have a plan of action to get there! If you’re like most people, this time of year is when New Year’s resolutions become even harder to keep, which is why I like to focus on one of the most important aspects of health, diet. Diet is often put on the back burner when people are chasing their goals but it’s one of the most effective ways to get results. It’s important to provide your body with the right fuel so that you are energized during your training and recovering well too!
One of my staple foods has always been eggs. Here’s a few reasons why I love eggs so much – One egg has 7 grams of high-quality protein, they contain healthy omega 3’s, iron, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and disease-fighting nutrients like lutein and zeaxanthin! That’s a lot of good from one egg. Not to mention, eggs have been part of my everyday routine for so long that it’s tough for me to think of eating anything else for breakfast.
I recently discovered Burnbrae Farms EGGS2go & EggBakes! As you can imagine, being such a fan of eggs this was the best news ever! Eggs2Go have been a great option for my on-the-go meals. Instead of waiting for my eggs to boil, waiting for them to cool down and then peeling them, now I can easily meal prep with Eggs2Go a lot faster. This also allows me to enjoy eggs at other times of the day other than breakfast, like a post-workout meal or for lunch.
The EggBakes! are my secret weapon. I keep a few in my freezer and whenever I’m in a time crunch, I pop one into the microwave and they’re done in 90seconds. This has save me a few times already this week, as I was rushing out of the door and prevented me from eating out.
I’ve personally found out (through a lot of trial and error) that when I know what’s going into my body, I get the best results! I can’t always check the ingredient lists of everything I eat so prepping my meals and having the right fuel on hand has always been one of my winning strategies!
