California Prune Energy Bites

It’s almost the end of January and you’re off to a great start with your nutrition. Suddenly, you hit a culinary wall and need some inspiration to keep you on track. You’ve been craving something sweet between all of the lean meals and leafy greens you’ve been eating. Looking for advice?

My suggestion are these simple-to-make California Prune Energy Bites. They are great for snacking on throughout the day or post-workout. They offer just the right amount of natural sweetness and can help with your energy levels! One serving of California Prunes (40g) provides 26 g of natural carbohydrates to help fuel your day.

Here’s why I love California Prunes:

Prunes can contribute to your bone health, as they naturally contain potassium, vitamin K, and polyphenols (antioxidant-packed micronutrients) which work together to protect the bone. They are also a good source of fibre, providing digestive health benefits.

Pretty amazing, right?!

On to the recipe! I used California Prunes because they are high quality and always taste fresh! I’ve listed 2 recipes below, but I encourage you to play around with some of your other favourite ingredients and California Prunes, you really can’t go wrong.

Coconut Cashew Energy Bites:
•1 cup California Prunes (chopped)
•1/4 Cashews (chopped)
•1/4 Cacao Powder
•1/4 Unsweetened Coconut Flakes

Chocolate Almond Butter Energy Bites:
•1 cup California Prunes (chopped)
•1/4 Unsweetened Dark Chocolate Chips
•1/4 Cacao Powder
•1/4 Almond Butter
•1/4 Quick Oats

I don’t own a food processor, so I chopped the ingredients, mixed them together in a large bowl and rolled them into bite-sized balls.

Hope you guys like this recipe as much as I do! And if you’re ever stumped on what to cook again, check out www.californiaprunes.ca for more inspiration!
