What started off as excitement over the arrival of our newborn quickly turned into a roller coaster of emotions.

Our 4th member joined our family on Wed night but that evening he was transferred out of our arms and into the NICU.

He spent the next few days there under observation and getting a round of antibiotics while Jodi and I dealt with the lows and wondering if he was going to be okay.

Thankfully, he’s healthy and at home with us now. Oliver is very much taken with his new baby brother and we are so grateful to have our family of four together at last.

Welcome to the world Baby Benjamin! You made quite the entrance and managed to add a few gray hairs to your Dad’s head in only a few days ❤️

As we prepare for the arrival of our new bundle of joy, I'm soaking up every moment spent with Oliver. While Jodi takes some much-deserved rest, I'm soaking up all the quality time we can have together. Watching his big personality grow and evolve has been a joy - he's becoming such an independent thinker, fearlessly taking on new adventures with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Oliver is exactly who this family needed - His sense of humour, his creativity, his inquisitive nature and his companionship brings joy to our everyday tasks.

I love having Oliver join my workouts because I want him to prioritize his health when he grows up and hopefully these memories of our morning workouts will stay with him forever.

Also, my #Aircast has been removed. I’ve started walking around the neighbourhood (followed by icing) and it seems to be helping. I’m grateful for this improvement in my mobility and recovery process 🙏🏽

We are almost entering the “terrible twos” which tbh, I don’t really care for that term.

What I have noticed:
1. Oliver is really curious and may not realize that something can be dangerous
2. He’s trying to communicate his needs and gets frustrated
3. He is testing boundaries regularly.

All he needs is consistency, patience, love and acknowledgement. I think we should change the term “terrible twos” to the “curious twos”.

Well, this is not exactly how I had planned to start 2023. We’re at the tail-end of part 1 of a home renovation, have a baby on the way, moving into our new space next week and looking after Oliver. But as they say, it’s not what happens to you, it’s how you react.

I completely ruptured my Achilles tendon. At this point, I’m still waiting to see an orthopaedic surgeon to see what my next potential steps (no pun intended) will be.

So unfortunately, no working out until my appointment next week when I’ll learn more.

In the meantime, lots of icing, Advil and using this iWalk device to move around.

Any tips for a faster recovery are welcome!

With everything going on lately, it’s been important for me to pause and live in the now. I personally like to set mini, short term goals for the month because it allows me to achieve them more easily while gaining positive momentum as we head into the next month.

My goals for Jan:

1. Work out a minimum of 3x per week

2. Cut out all alcohol consumption for the month #DryJanuary

3. Walk instead of drive to most places (well, this one didn’t workout for me lol. I guess I’ll have to settle with 2 out of 3).

Being mindful of the amount of waste I put out into the world is something I’ve been trying to improve.

As someone who drinks a ton of coffee (especially on the go) one of the simplest ways to reduce my waste is to bring my insulated mug everywhere I go. I simply ask my local coffee shop to fill up my mug vs. using a paper cup.
